The MERIT BRASS A6D70R is a 600-volt, 70-amp Class RK1 time-delay fuse designed for overcurrent protection in industrial and commercial electrical distribution systems. The RK1 classification indicates a high-interrupting-capacity fuse with rejection features that prevent installation in lower-rated fuse holders, a critical safety characteristic for panel and disconnect applications. The time-delay design accommodates normal motor inrush currents without nuisance tripping while still providing fast response to sustained overloads and short-circuit faults. Licensed electricians and qualified electrical contractors are the primary installers of this fuse type.
This fuse is suited for motor branch circuit protection, service entrance equipment, motor control centers, and feeder circuits where NEC-compliant overcurrent protection is required. The 600-volt rating covers the majority of single-phase and three-phase commercial and light industrial distribution voltages in North American installations. The pack of 5 units supports stocking requirements for maintenance contractors and panel shops handling multiple circuits or keeping spare inventory on hand.
Designed for use in Class RK1 fuse holders and rejection-style fusible disconnects and panelboards rated for 600 volts and 70 amps or greater. The RK1 rejection feature physically prevents installation in Class H or non-rejection holders.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit at the upstream overcurrent device before opening any fusible disconnect or panel. Verify the fuse holder is rated for Class RK1 fuses and rated at or above 600 volts and 70 amps before installation. Never install a fuse with a higher ampere rating than the circuit or equipment nameplate requires.
