The MERIT BRASS A2D50R is a Class RK1 time-delay fuse rated at 50 amps and 250 volts. It provides overcurrent protection in electrical distribution systems where motor loads, transformers, or other inductive equipment require a short-time delay before the fuse opens on overload. The time-delay characteristic allows normal inrush current during startup while still responding quickly to short-circuit faults. This fuse is installed by licensed electricians as part of panel, disconnect, or fusible switch assemblies. It ships in packs of 10, making it practical for stocking service vehicles or supply rooms handling commercial and light industrial work.
The A2D50R is suited for use in 250-volt fusible disconnect switches, motor control panels, and branch circuit protection applications where Class RK1 performance is specified. The RK1 classification indicates a high degree of current-limiting capability, providing a tighter level of protection than standard RK5 fuses. Typical applications include HVAC equipment disconnects, pump motor circuits, and commercial electrical distribution panels in both new construction and retrofit installations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement for Class RK1 time-delay fuses in 250-volt fusible disconnect and panelboard applications requiring a 50-amp, current-limiting fuse.
Installation must be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). Always de-energize and lock out the circuit before removing or installing fuses. Verify the fuse holder or disconnect block is rated for Class RK1 fuses at the appropriate amperage and voltage before installation. Do not substitute a non-current-limiting fuse where RK1 class protection is specified by the equipment manufacturer or engineering design.
