The MERIT BRASS 8064-450 is a Schedule 40 aluminum pipe nipple designed for use in piping systems that require lightweight, corrosion-resistant fittings. Manufactured from 6061 aluminum alloy, this nipple measures 4 inches in diameter and 4.5 inches in length with threads on both ends. It is suited for plumbing, industrial fluid transfer, and mechanical piping applications where standard steel fittings are not appropriate due to weight or corrosion concerns. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting as part of threaded piping assemblies. This pipe nipple is used in residential and commercial piping systems where aluminum is specified for weight savings or chemical compatibility. Shut off and depressurize the piping system completely before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply a thread sealant rated for use with aluminum to prevent galling and ensure a leak-free connection. Do not overtighten threaded aluminum fittings, as 6061 alloy threads can be damaged by excessive torque.
