The MERIT BRASS 8024-600 is a Schedule 40 aluminum pipe nipple machined from 6061 aluminum alloy and threaded on both ends. At 1-1/2 inches nominal diameter and 6 inches in length, it provides a short, rigid connection segment in threaded piping systems. The 6061 alloy delivers a solid balance of corrosion resistance and mechanical strength, making it a practical choice where steel nipples would add unnecessary weight or where galvanic concerns require a non-ferrous fitting. Plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors install these nipples in low-pressure fluid and pneumatic systems.
This nipple is suited for use in residential and light commercial piping applications where 1-1/2 inch NPT threaded connections are required. Common install scenarios include compressed air distribution, low-pressure fluid transfer lines, and general mechanical systems where aluminum is the specified material. Both ends are fully threaded to ANSI NPT standards, allowing direct connection to standard threaded fittings, valves, or pipe couplings without adapters.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-install component for 1-1/2 inch NPT threaded piping systems using Schedule 40 aluminum pipe and fittings.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with applicable mechanical and plumbing codes. Depressurize and drain the system fully before removing or installing any threaded nipple. Apply a thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service fluid and aluminum compatibility before making up the joint. Do not overtighten aluminum nipples with pipe wrenches, as the alloy is softer than steel and threads can be damaged by excessive torque.
