The MERIT BRASS 8024-300 is a 6061 aluminum pipe nipple designed for threaded piping systems in industrial, commercial, and mechanical applications. This Schedule 40 nipple measures 1-1/2 inches in diameter and 3 inches in length, with threads on both ends for direct connection between fittings, valves, or equipment. The 6061 aluminum construction provides good corrosion resistance and a favorable strength-to-weight ratio compared to steel, making it a practical choice in environments where weight savings or galvanic compatibility with aluminum systems is a priority. Plumbers, pipefitters, and industrial maintenance techs are the typical installers.
This nipple is suited for use in low-pressure fluid and air distribution systems where aluminum is the specified material. Schedule 40 wall thickness meets standard dimensional requirements for 1-1/2 inch threaded piping. It is commonly used in manufacturing facilities, process piping, compressed air lines, and similar applications that call for OSHA-compliant piping components. The threaded-both-ends configuration allows for quick makeup between NPT-threaded couplings, unions, or valves without any field modification.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation component for 1-1/2 inch NPT threaded piping systems using Schedule 40 aluminum pipe fittings.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with applicable mechanical and plumbing codes. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any threaded components. Use an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service fluid when making up NPT connections. Do not overtighten aluminum threaded fittings, as the material is softer than steel and susceptible to thread damage under excessive torque.
