The MERIT BRASS 8020-200 is a 6061 aluminum pipe nipple designed for use in Schedule 40 piping systems. It measures 1-1/4 inches in nominal pipe size and 2 inches in length, with threads on both ends for direct connection to fittings, valves, or pipe assemblies. Constructed from 6061 aluminum alloy, this nipple offers good corrosion resistance and a favorable strength-to-weight ratio at 0.13 pounds. Plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors install this type of nipple where aluminum is specified to reduce weight or resist corrosive media incompatible with steel pipe.
This nipple is suited for residential and commercial plumbing, compressed air, and fluid transfer systems where Schedule 40 aluminum pipe is used. Its short 2-inch body makes it useful in close-quarters installations that require a rigid, threaded connection between two female-threaded components. It meets OSHA standards as specified by the manufacturer and carries UNSPSC code 40173300.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 40 aluminum piping systems using 1-1/4 inch NPT-threaded connections.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters using appropriate pipe wrenches and thread sealant compatible with aluminum. Shut off and depressurize the system before making or breaking any threaded connections. Do not use pipe dope or PTFE tape compounds that contain solvents incompatible with aluminum alloy. Installations should conform to applicable local plumbing codes and OSHA requirements.
