The MERIT BRASS 8004-600 is a Schedule 40 aluminum pipe nipple machined from 6061 aluminum alloy and threaded on both ends. It measures 1/4 inch in nominal pipe diameter and 6 inches in length, making it a compact close-to-medium-length fitting for connecting pipe runs, valves, or equipment in low-pressure fluid and pneumatic systems. At 0.076 pounds, it is lightweight without sacrificing the corrosion resistance and strength that 6061 alloy provides. Plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors install this fitting where standard steel nipples would corrode or add unnecessary weight to the assembly.
This nipple is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, compressed air, and pneumatic distribution systems where aluminum is specified or preferred over steel. Its Schedule 40 wall thickness meets common pressure and flow requirements for 1/4-inch lines. The threaded-both-ends design allows direct installation between two female-threaded fittings, valves, or equipment ports without additional machining. It is also used in industrial and workshop environments where OSHA-compliant piping components are required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1/4-inch NPT threaded piping systems requiring Schedule 40 aluminum nipples.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters following applicable IPC and OSHA requirements. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any threaded pipe fitting. Apply a thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the conveyed media to all male threads before assembly. Do not overtighten aluminum fittings, as the alloy is softer than steel and threads can be damaged by excessive torque.
