The MERIT BRASS 6502-300 is a Schedule 80 seamless stainless steel pipe nipple sized for 1/8 inch pipe, manufactured from Grade 316/316L stainless steel. This close or short nipple provides a corrosion-resistant threaded connection in piping systems where standard carbon steel or brass fittings are not suitable. The seamless construction eliminates a weld seam, which reduces potential weak points under pressure or in chemically aggressive environments. This nipple is suited for residential and commercial plumbing, HVAC, chemical process, and industrial piping applications where Grade 316 or 316L stainless steel is specified. The 316L designation indicates low carbon content, making it preferable in welded assemblies or in environments prone to intergranular corrosion. Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter following applicable IPC and ASME B31 piping code requirements. Apply an appropriate thread sealant rated for stainless steel and the intended media before making up the joint. Avoid over-tightening threaded stainless fittings, as galling can occur when stainless steel threads are engaged without proper anti-seize or sealant compound.
