The MERIT BRASS 414B-2004 is a stainless steel hex pipe bushing designed to reduce a 1-1/4 inch male NPT connection down to a 1/4 inch female NPT port. Constructed from 304/304L stainless steel, it delivers strong corrosion resistance in demanding fluid and gas piping systems. The threaded MNPT x FNPT configuration allows it to thread directly into existing fittings or pipe assemblies without additional adapters. Rated to 3,000 psi, this bushing is suited for high-pressure applications in industrial, commercial, and mechanical systems. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting where a size reduction between threaded connections is required.
This bushing is commonly used in plumbing, HVAC, process piping, and industrial fluid handling systems where a transition from a larger to a smaller threaded port is needed. The 304/304L dual-grade stainless steel construction makes it appropriate for use with water, steam, mild chemicals, and other media compatible with austenitic stainless steel. Typical installations include manifold assemblies, valve bodies, pump ports, and instrumentation connections in both commercial and light industrial environments.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded pipe bushing for use in standard NPT piping systems requiring a 1-1/4 inch to 1/4 inch reduction in stainless steel.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters following applicable IPC or IFGC guidelines for threaded connections. Isolate and depressurize the system fully before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly. Do not over-torque; tighten to snug plus the number of turns appropriate for the pipe size per the sealant manufacturer's instructions.
