The MERIT BRASS 4012-7200 is a 3/4-inch Schedule 40 stainless steel pipe nipple constructed from Grade 304/304L stainless steel using a welded manufacturing process. Pipe nipples serve as short threaded connectors used to join sections of pipe or to connect pipe to fittings, valves, and equipment. This nipple is suited for fluid handling, gas distribution, and process piping applications where corrosion resistance and pressure integrity are required. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors are the primary installers. The 304/304L dual-grade designation means it meets both standard and low-carbon requirements, making it compatible with a wide range of welded and threaded piping assemblies.
This nipple is used in residential and commercial plumbing, HVAC hydronic systems, and light industrial process piping where stainless steel is specified for corrosion resistance or sanitary requirements. Schedule 40 wall thickness provides the pressure rating expected in standard service piping. The 3/4-inch pipe size fits common branch and main line connections in water supply, steam, and compressed air systems. It is also found in food service and chemical handling installations where 304 stainless is an acceptable material of construction.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 40 stainless steel threaded piping systems using 3/4-inch pipe.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters in accordance with applicable IPC or IFGC code requirements. Shut off fluid supply and depressurize the line before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service fluid before assembly. Do not overtighten threaded connections, as stainless steel threads are susceptible to galling.
