The MERIT BRASS 01613-9640 is a 6 x 2-1/2 inch eccentric reducer fitting manufactured from 316L stainless steel. It connects two pipes of different diameters using butt weld end connections on both ends and is built to Schedule 10 wall thickness. The eccentric design offsets the centerlines of the two pipe ends, keeping one side flat — a critical characteristic in liquid systems where drainage and air elimination matter. This fitting is installed by licensed pipefitters, plumbers, and mechanical contractors working on process, industrial, or commercial piping systems.
This eccentric reducer is suited for process piping, industrial fluid handling, and commercial mechanical systems where corrosion resistance and weld-grade construction are required. The 316L low-carbon stainless alloy provides strong resistance to chloride environments and is commonly specified in chemical, food-grade, pharmaceutical, and marine applications. The butt weld end connection on both sides requires full-penetration welding, making it appropriate for high-integrity piping assemblies.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 10 stainless steel butt weld piping systems requiring a 6 x 2-1/2 inch eccentric reduction.
Installation requires a qualified pipefitter or welder certified for the applicable pipe material and process service. Depressurize and isolate the pipe system completely before cutting or fitting. Butt weld joints must be prepared with proper bevel angles and root gap per applicable welding procedure specifications — do not skip post-weld inspection where required by code. Applicable codes may include ASME B31.3 for process piping or ASME B31.1 for power piping depending on the system classification.
