The MERIT BRASS 01413-2408 is a Schedule 10 eccentric reducer fitting used to connect piping of two different diameters while maintaining a flat side along one axis. Sized at 1-1/2 inches by 1/2 inch with butt weld end connections on both ends, it is constructed from 304L stainless steel for corrosion resistance in demanding service conditions. The eccentric geometry offsets the centerlines of the two pipe bores, which is useful for maintaining proper drainage slope and preventing air pockets in horizontal runs. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors are the primary installers of this fitting.
This eccentric reducer is suited for use in low-pressure piping systems where Schedule 10 wall thickness is appropriate. Common applications include process piping, sanitary lines, HVAC chilled water and heating water distribution, and food-grade or pharmaceutical fluid handling where 304L stainless steel meets material requirements. The butt weld connection type requires field welding by a qualified welder following applicable codes. It is sold individually.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 10 stainless steel butt weld piping systems requiring an eccentric reducer transition from 1-1/2 inch to 1/2 inch pipe.
Installation requires a qualified welder following applicable welding codes such as ASME B31.1 or B31.3 for process and power piping. Shut down and depressurize the piping system and allow it to cool completely before cutting in or replacing any fitting. Proper joint fit-up and purge gas practices should be used when welding 304L stainless steel to prevent oxidation and maintain corrosion resistance. Verify system pressure ratings and applicable local mechanical codes before installation.
