The MERIT ABRASIVES 69957399739 is a Power-Lock Type 1 quick-change abrasive disc rated for use on handheld disc sanders in demanding metal fabrication and finishing work. Built on a Y-weight 2-ply polyester backing, this disc delivers a rigid, durable platform for aggressive stock removal and weld blending. The 40-grit aluminum oxide grain is coated for extended life and faster cut rates compared to uncoated abrasive formats. At 0.75 inches in diameter, it fits compact quick-change systems and is rated to a maximum of 40,000 RPM. Fabricators, welders, and metal finishers working with ferrous and nonferrous alloys will find this disc suited to moderately demanding finishing cycles.
This disc is designed for metal surface prep applications including stock removal and weld blending on a range of materials. Compatible materials include 300 Series Stainless, 400 Series Stainless, Aluminum, Brass, Bronze, Hard Carbon Steels, Soft Carbon Steels, and Titanium. The coarse 40-grit cut rate makes it appropriate for initial passes where aggressive material removal is required before finishing grits are applied. It is intended for use with handheld disc sanders equipped with a Type P quick-change attaching system.
