The MERIT ABRASIVES 66261026669 is a quick-change abrasive disc designed for surface preparation and material removal on a wide range of metals and composites. At 3/4 inch in diameter with a 50-grit coarse aluminum oxide construction, this non-woven disc uses a Type S (SocAtt Type 2) attaching system for fast tool-free mounting. The polyester and nylon web backing provides flexibility, allowing the disc to conform to contoured surfaces while maintaining consistent contact. A maximum operating speed of 40,000 RPM makes it suitable for high-speed die grinders and inline grinders used in production and maintenance environments. Clean Bond resin technology keeps the abrasive grain from smearing or loading up on the workpiece surface.
This disc is intended for coarse-grit surface prep tasks where moderate material removal and finish consistency are both required. Compatible materials include 300 series stainless, 400 series stainless, fiberglass and composites, hard and soft carbon steels, super alloys, titanium, and tool steels. The Merit Surface Prep series targets fabrication shops, maintenance technicians, and aerospace or industrial metalworking applications where consistent surface finish prior to coating or welding is critical. The flexible non-woven construction also makes this disc useful for blending and cleaning tasks on irregular or curved work surfaces.
Designed for use with die grinders, handheld disc sanders, inline grinders, and straight grinders equipped with a Type S (TS, Type II) quick-change interface. Suitable for use on 300 and 400 series stainless, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, super alloys, titanium, and fiberglass or composite materials.
Installation is performed by metalworkers, fabricators, and maintenance technicians using compatible quick-change grinder tooling. Always verify the tool spindle speed does not exceed the 40,000 RPM disc rating before mounting. Power down and disconnect the grinder from its air or electrical supply before changing discs. Wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves when operating abrasive tooling.
