The MERIT ABRASIVES 08834166399 is a 3-inch quick-change abrasive disc designed for surface finishing, blending, and light material removal on a wide range of metals and composites. It uses aluminum oxide grain bonded in resin and laminated onto a flexible non-woven nylon fiber backing. That combination delivers a smooth cut rate and a consistent, uniform surface finish without aggressive stock removal. The disc connects via a Type S attaching system with TS (Type II) quick-change compatibility, rated to 20,000 RPM. It weighs 0.02 pounds. Metalworking and fabrication tradespeople rely on this disc for clean finishing passes where a woven or coated abrasive would leave too aggressive a scratch pattern.
This disc is suited for finishing operations on 300 and 400 series stainless steel, soft and hard carbon steels, tool steels, super alloys, titanium, and fiberglass or composite surfaces. It is intended for use with die grinders, inline grinders, straight grinders, and handheld disc sanders. The fine grade and non-woven construction make it a go-to choice in fabrication shops, maintenance facilities, and field service environments where surface condition matters — such as weld blending, pre-inspection prep, or cosmetic finishing on stainless work.
Designed for use with die grinders, handheld disc sanders, inline grinders, and straight grinders equipped with a TS (Type II) Type S quick-change arbor. Suitable for material applications including 300 Series Stainless, 400 Series Stainless, Fiberglass and Composites, Hard Carbon Steels, Soft Carbon Steels, Super Alloys, Titanium, and Tool Steels.
Installation is performed by metalworkers, fabricators, and maintenance technicians. Before mounting, verify the tool spindle speed does not exceed the 20,000 RPM disc rating and confirm the arbor uses a compatible TS (Type II) Type S quick-change interface. Power down and disconnect the grinder from its power source before changing discs. Inspect the disc for damage before each use and discard any disc that shows tears, delamination, or deformation.
