The MERIT ABRASIVES 08834166322 is a 3-inch quick-change abrasive disc designed for surface conditioning, blending, and moderate material removal on metal and composite substrates. It uses aluminum oxide grain bonded into a high-loft nylon fiber construction, which provides consistent cut without loading or smearing. The disc mounts via a Power-Lock Type R attaching system for fast tool-free changes on compatible grinders. Rated to 20,000 RPM, it is sold individually and suited for use by metalworkers, fabricators, and maintenance technicians working in production or field environments.
This disc is well suited for surface prep, weld blending, deburring, and light stock removal on a range of metals including 300 and 400 series stainless steel, soft and hard carbon steels, tool steels, super alloys, and titanium, as well as fiberglass and composite materials. Compatible machines include die grinders, handheld disc sanders, inline grinders, and straight grinders. The coarse grade makes it practical for initial surface conditioning passes where moderate material removal is required before finishing steps.
Compatible with TR (Type III) quick-change systems and Type R attaching hardware on die grinders, handheld disc sanders, inline grinders, and straight grinders. Material applications include 300 Series Stainless, 400 Series Stainless, Fiberglass and Composites, Hard Carbon Steels, Soft Carbon Steels, Super Alloys, Titanium, and Tool Steels.
Installation is performed by the machine operator or technician before use. Verify the host tool spindle accepts a TR Type III or Type R quick-change interface before mounting. Ensure the tool is powered off and disconnected from the air or electrical supply prior to disc changes. Do not exceed the 20,000 RPM maximum speed rating marked on the disc, and inspect the disc for damage before each use per standard abrasive safety practices.
