The MERIT ABRASIVES 08834166317 is a 2-inch non-woven aluminum oxide quick-change disc designed for surface finishing, blending, and light material removal on metal and composite workpieces. It uses a Type S (Power-Lock Type II / TS) attaching system for fast disc swaps on compatible rotary tools. The disc is rated to 30,000 RPM and features a flexible polyester and nylon web backing that conforms to contoured surfaces. Very fine grade aluminum oxide grain delivers controlled cut rates suitable for final finishing passes rather than aggressive stock removal.
This disc is intended for use on die grinders, inline grinders, straight grinders, and handheld disc sanders in fabrication, maintenance, and finishing applications. Rated material applications include 300 Series and 400 Series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, and fiberglass or composite substrates. It is well suited to industrial maintenance shops, metal fabrication environments, and aerospace or specialty manufacturing where smear-free finishes on sensitive alloys are required.
Designed for use with Type S (TS, Power-Lock Type II) quick-change mandrels on die grinders, inline grinders, straight grinders, and handheld disc sanders. Compatible material applications include 300 Series stainless, 400 Series stainless, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, and fiberglass or composites.
Mount the disc onto a compatible Type S quick-change mandrel and verify the mandrel is rated for at least 30,000 RPM before use. Always power down and disconnect the tool from its air or electrical supply before changing discs. Inspect the disc for tears, delamination, or damage before each use and discard any damaged disc immediately. Follow applicable ANSI and OSHA abrasive wheel safety standards, and ensure all operators wear appropriate eye and face protection.
