Product Description

The MAZE NAILS H52S530 is a hardened steel fluted masonry nail designed for mechanically fastening materials directly to concrete, block, and masonry surfaces. At 3/4 inch in length and 9 gauge in diameter, with a 5/16-inch head, these nails are sized for light-duty anchoring applications where a powder-actuated fastener or anchor bolt would be excessive. The fluted shank increases holding power in masonry substrates. Sold in a 5-pound box containing approximately 1,150 nails, this quantity is suited for production work on job sites rather than small-scale one-off tasks. Licensed contractors and experienced tradespeople are the primary installers.

These masonry nails are used when fastening furring strips, floor plates, and partition wall bottom plates to concrete or block substrates. They are well suited for interior framing rough-in work where treated lumber or steel track is being anchored to slab or block at the base of a wall assembly. The 3/4-inch length is intended for surface anchoring of thin materials rather than deep embedment applications. Best results are achieved when nails are driven at least 3 inches from the edge of the masonry or block, with at least 3/4 inch of penetration into the substrate.

Key Features

  • Hardened steel construction resists bending and breaking when driven into masonry or concrete
  • Fluted shank design increases friction and pull-out resistance in block and concrete
  • 5/16-inch head provides positive bearing surface against furring strips and plate material
  • 9 gauge diameter balances shear strength with manageable driving force
  • 1,150-count, 5-pound box quantity supports production framing and rough-in work
  • Safety glasses are recommended when driving hardened nails due to potential spall or fracture

Compatibility

Designed for use in concrete, block, and standard masonry substrates for anchoring furring strips, floor plates, and partition wall bottom plates.

Installation Notes

Hardened masonry nails are typically driven by a hand sledge or masonry hammer and are installed by general contractors, framers, and finish carpenters working on concrete or block surfaces. Always wear safety glasses when driving hardened nails, as the hardened steel can fracture or spall on impact. Drive nails no closer than 3 inches from the edge of any masonry unit or block to prevent splitting or blowout. Do not attempt to drive these nails with a standard framing hammer, as the hardened shank can shatter under repeated off-angle strikes.
