The MAZE NAILS CMH8530 is a hardened steel tapered masonry nail designed for fastening wood members to cinder block, concrete block, and fresh concrete surfaces. The tapered shank and blunt point work together to drive cleanly into masonry without causing excessive spalling or cracking in the substrate. At 8d and 2.5 inches in length, these nails deliver solid holding power in typical wood-to-masonry attachment applications. A minimum 0.75-inch penetration into the masonry base is recommended for adequate pull-out resistance. This box contains 320 nails and weighs 5 pounds, making it a practical job-site quantity for framing and blocking crews.
These masonry nails are suited for residential and light commercial construction tasks where treated lumber or dimensional lumber plates must be secured directly to concrete or cinder block walls. Common applications include attaching bottom plates to foundation walls, securing furring strips to block walls, and similar concrete fastening work. They are installed by carpenters, framers, and general contractors using a standard hammer or hand-held nail driver.
Designed for use in wood-to-masonry fastening applications including cinder block walls and fresh concrete substrates where a tapered hardened-steel nail is required.
Safety glasses must be worn when driving masonry nails, as hardened steel on masonry can produce chips and fragments. Power down any embedded electrical or plumbing runs before driving nails into block or concrete walls. Drive nails with a standard framing hammer using firm, controlled strikes; avoid glancing blows that can cause the nail to deflect or shatter. Follow applicable building codes for fastener spacing and embedment depth when securing structural plates to masonry.
