The MAYHEW 13159 is a 45-degree angled carbon scraper built for heavy-duty surface prep work in the trades. The carbon blade tackles gasket removal, rust, paint, carbon buildup, and floor tile adhesive. Its edge can be resharpened after extended use, extending the service life of the tool. The ProGrip handle is molded from high-resilience polypropylene with an over-molded thermoplastic elastomer soft grip. Two patented ribs at the neck maximize torque transfer from hand to blade, and a rounded end cap rolls onto the heel of the palm to reduce friction and hand fatigue during sustained use.
This scraper is suited for HVAC technicians, plumbers, pipefitters, and general maintenance professionals who need a reliable tool for cleaning mating surfaces, removing old gasket material from flanges, stripping rust or paint from metal, and lifting floor tile. The 45-degree blade angle provides access to tight surfaces and reduces wrist strain compared to a straight scraper when working at close range or in confined areas.
Designed as a general-purpose hand scraper suitable for use across HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, and maintenance applications where gasket removal, surface cleaning, or material stripping is required.
This is a hand tool requiring no installation. When using a scraper on mating surfaces or flanges, ensure the system is fully depressurized and cooled before beginning surface prep work. Keep the blade sharp for safe, controlled cuts — a dull blade requires excessive force and increases the risk of slipping. Dispose of scraped materials in accordance with applicable local regulations, particularly when removing lead paint or hazardous coatings.
