The MAUDLIN PRODUCTS 031-6-50 is a full-hard stainless steel shim stock roll used for precision spacing, alignment, and gap filling in mechanical assemblies. The roll measures 6 inches wide by 50 inches long with a nominal thickness of 0.031 inches and a tight thickness tolerance of plus or minus 0.0008 inches. Manufactured from 302/304 stainless steel, this shim stock is non-magnetic and corrosion resistant, making it suitable for demanding industrial and mechanical service environments. Machinists, millwrights, and maintenance technicians use shim stock of this type when close-tolerance shimming is required during equipment installation, leveling, or alignment work.
This roll is suited for industrial maintenance, HVAC equipment alignment, pump and motor base leveling, and general mechanical assembly tasks where consistent material thickness is critical. The full-hard temper provides rigidity for cutting and stacking individual shims to precise thicknesses. The 6-inch width and 50-inch length allow technicians to cut custom shim sizes on site without waste. Non-magnetic 302/304 stainless steel is appropriate for applications where carbon steel shim material would corrode or interfere with magnetic field sensitivity requirements.
Designed as a general-purpose stainless steel shim stock roll for precision alignment and spacing applications across industrial, mechanical, and equipment installation settings.
Shim stock is typically cut and fitted by machinists, millwrights, or maintenance technicians using aviation snips, a metal shear, or a utility knife with a straightedge. Deburr all cut edges before installation to avoid surface damage to mating components. Ensure all fasteners and clamping hardware are loosened before inserting or removing shims from an assembly. Follow applicable equipment manufacturer tolerances and torque specifications when reassembling shimmed joints.
