The MATCO-NORCA znb0612 is a black steel pipe nipple designed for use in threaded pipe assemblies across plumbing, mechanical, and gas distribution systems. Manufactured from ASTM A53/A53M Grade B electric resistance welded (ERW) steel, this nipple measures 1-1/4 inches in diameter with an overall length of 12 inches and a Schedule 40 wall thickness. Both ends are male-threaded to ASME B1.20.1 standards. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting when extending or connecting threaded black iron pipe runs. It is lead-free and RoHS compliant, making it suitable for potable water applications where NSF 61/372 listed components are required.
This nipple is used in residential and commercial applications including gas supply lines, water distribution systems, and general mechanical piping. The 12-inch length makes it a standard close-extension fitting when connecting valves, tees, elbows, or other threaded components in black iron systems. It is commonly found in boiler rooms, utility spaces, and commercial kitchens where black steel pipe is the specified material. Licensed tradespeople installing gas or water systems under IPC or IFGC requirements will find this fitting meets the applicable dimensional and material standards.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1-1/4 inch Schedule 40 threaded black steel pipe systems conforming to ASTM A733 and ASME B1.20.1 dimensional standards.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC or IFGC code requirements. Shut off supply pressure and depressurize the line before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply a listed pipe thread sealant or PTFE tape to male threads before assembly; do not over-tighten, as this can crack fittings or damage threads. When used in gas service, verify all joints with an approved leak-detection solution after pressurizing.
