The MASTER LOCK COMPANY MLKS806 is a multi-purpose lockout cable designed to secure valves, electrical throw switches, circuit breaker panels, and gate valves during maintenance and service procedures. The cable runs 6 feet in length and measures 5/32 inch in diameter, constructed from multi-stranded steel with a clear plastic coating for flexibility and long-term durability. The body is molded from Xenoy thermoplastic, which resists chemical exposure and operates reliably across a temperature range of -50 degrees F to 300 degrees F. Licensed electricians, HVAC technicians, plumbers, and safety compliance personnel install this device as part of a lockout/tagout program.
The MLKS806 is suited for both residential and commercial service environments where energy isolation is required before equipment maintenance. Common applications include locking out gate valves on mechanical systems, securing circuit breaker handles, and controlling access to electrical throw switches. The integrated safety hasp accepts up to four padlocks simultaneously, making it appropriate for multi-trade job sites where multiple workers must each apply their own lock before work begins. High-visibility reusable write-on safety labels in English, French, and Spanish are included for jobsite compliance documentation.
Designed for use with standard safety padlocks in lockout/tagout programs. Compatible with gate valves, electrical throw switches, circuit breaker panels, and similar energy isolation points commonly found in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
Installation is performed by licensed electricians, HVAC technicians, or plumbers as part of a regulated lockout/tagout procedure in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.147 energy control standards. De-energize and isolate all energy sources before applying the cable lock. Thread the cable through or around the isolation point, cinch the body mechanism firmly, and apply individual padlocks through the hasp before beginning any service work. Remove the device only after all workers have cleared the area and confirmed the system is safe to re-energize.
