The MASTER LOCK 4150 is a brass-body padlock designed for light-duty security applications in commercial and residential settings. The body measures 1-7/8 inches wide and houses a 5-pin tumbler cylinder, providing reliable resistance to picking and unauthorized entry. The hardened steel shackle is 9/32 inches in diameter, 1 inch wide, and offers 15/16 inches of shackle clearance. It ships keyed different, meaning each lock operates on a unique key and will not cross-key with other locks in the same order. Licensed HVAC technicians, plumbers, electricians, and facility maintenance crews commonly use this style of padlock to secure service panels, disconnect boxes, valve handles, and equipment enclosures.
The MASTER LOCK 4150 is well suited for applications requiring a compact, corrosion-resistant lock body. The brass construction makes it appropriate for indoor environments and areas with moderate moisture exposure, such as mechanical rooms, utility closets, and light outdoor service enclosures. It is commonly used for lockout/tagout procedures, cabinet latches, tool storage, and gate hasps where a standard-width padlock is required. The keyed-different configuration is the standard choice when independent keying between multiple locks is needed on a job site or facility.
Designed as a standard-width padlock for use with conventional hasps, staples, and latch assemblies requiring a body width of approximately 1-7/8 inches.
Installation requires no tools — insert the shackle into the lock body and close until it clicks. For lockout/tagout applications, follow OSHA 29 CFR 1910.147 control of hazardous energy procedures before securing any service disconnect or valve. Confirm the hasp or staple inner width is compatible with the 9/32-inch shackle diameter before installation. Avoid lubricants that may attract debris to the keyway; use a dry graphite lubricant if the cylinder becomes stiff over time.
