The MARSHALLTOWN 16194 is a 20-grit rub brick used for smoothing, dressing, and cleaning masonry surfaces. It removes form marks, rough spots, and high points from concrete, block, and similar masonry substrates. At 8 inches long, 3.5 inches wide, and 1.5 inches thick, the brick offers a substantial working face that covers ground quickly on flat and contoured surfaces. Masons, concrete finishers, and tile setters reach for this tool when a surface needs to be brought to a uniform texture before finishing, grouting, or coating work begins.
This rub brick is suited for residential and commercial masonry work. Common applications include rubbing down cast concrete walls and slabs, cleaning up block courses, dressing exposed aggregate, and removing efflorescence or minor surface irregularities. It is also used in pool and hardscape work to smooth shotcrete and plaster edges before finish coats are applied. The hand-held format makes it practical on vertical surfaces, sills, curbs, and any area where power tools are impractical.
Designed as a standard hand rub brick for use on concrete, concrete block, brick, and comparable masonry surfaces in residential and commercial construction and finishing applications.
No power source or mechanical tools are required for use. Wet the surface or the brick lightly before rubbing to reduce dust and improve abrasive action. When working in enclosed spaces, wear appropriate respiratory protection per OSHA guidelines for silica dust exposure. Inspect the brick for cracks or uneven wear before each use to maintain consistent surface contact.
