The MARKAL 96970 is a liquid paint marker designed for marking on oily, contaminated, and hard-to-mark surfaces common in trade and industrial environments. Fitted with a bullet-shaped tip, it lays down a consistent line of light green liquid paint on steel, iron, aluminum, pipe, plastic, rubber, and tires without requiring the surface to be cleaned first. Weighing 0.05 pounds and measuring 5.65 inches in height with a 0.81-inch diameter profile, the marker is compact enough to carry in a tool pouch. It is used by pipefitters, ironworkers, HVAC technicians, and mechanical contractors for part identification, weld prep marking, and field layout work.
This marker is suited for both shop and field use where surfaces may carry residual oil, grease, or moisture. Typical applications include marking pipe spools prior to fabrication, identifying aluminum sheet stock, tagging rubber hoses or tires, and scribing reference lines on steel structural members. The light green color provides visible contrast against dark metals and black rubber surfaces, making marks readable under typical shop lighting conditions.
Designed for use on steel and iron, aluminum, pipes and tubes, plastic, and rubber and tire surfaces, including oily or lightly contaminated substrates.
No tools are required to use this marker. Before marking pressure-bearing or weld-prep areas, verify that the paint formulation is compatible with any downstream process such as welding or coating application. Store with the cap secured to prevent tip drying. Dispose of spent markers in accordance with applicable local regulations for paint-containing materials.
