The MALCO WB1 is a 1-inch spade-style wood boring bit built for trade professionals who need fast, clean holes with minimal power draw. Constructed from heat-treated steel with a solid body, this bit features ground points and cutting edges engineered to outperform standard spade bits in both speed and hole quality. The 1/4-inch flat shank seats securely in standard drill chucks. A head hole is built into the blade for convenient storage on a hook or for routing wire pulls after the bore is complete. The bit is resharpenable using a saw file or angle grinder, extending service life on the job.
The WB1 is suited for residential and light commercial rough-in work where boring through framing, wall assemblies, and non-metallic building materials is required. It cuts straight or angled holes in soft woods, hard woods, Formica, plaster, chipboard, foam core material, and foam insulation. HVAC, plumbing, and electrical installers use this bit when running duct, pipe, or conduit through wood-framed structures. The design handles a wide range of non-metallic building sidings as well.
Designed for use with any 3/8-inch or 1/2-inch drill accepting a 1/4-inch flat shank bit. Suitable for soft woods, hard woods, plaster, Formica, chipboard, foam core, foam insulation, and many non-metallic building sidings.
This bit is installed and used by HVAC technicians, plumbers, and electricians during rough-in stages to bore penetrations through wood framing and non-metallic materials. Ensure the drill is powered off and the chuck is fully tightened before beginning any boring operation. When boring angled holes or working near structural members, follow local building code clearance requirements. Do not use on metal materials, as this bit is designed exclusively for wood and non-metallic substrates.
