The MAGNAFLUX 01-3159-40 is a 5-gallon container of ZL-15B water-washable fluorescent liquid penetrant, classified at sensitivity Level 1/2. It is designed for nondestructive testing (NDT) to detect open surface discontinuities including cracks, porosity, seams, laps, cold shuts, and laminations. The formulation delivers excellent washability, making it well-suited for parts with rough or irregular surfaces where excess penetrant removal must be thorough. Under a UV-A light source, indications fluoresce as bright green-yellow, providing clear contrast for inspection. The product is listed on the QPL SAE AMS 2644 Qualified Products List, confirming it meets controlled aerospace and industrial inspection standards. NDT technicians and quality inspectors apply this penetrant in regulated inspection workflows.
ZL-15B is used in surface flaw detection on castings, forgings, extrusions, and fabricated parts in manufacturing and maintenance environments. It is applicable to both production-line inspection and in-service component checks where water-washable processing is the preferred method. The penetrant is compatible with ZP-4D dry powder developer, ZP-5B water-suspendible developer used in an agitated tank, and ZP-9F non-aqueous developer. A UV-A light source such as the EV6000 is required to view fluorescent indications during the inspection process.

Applied by NDT Level I or Level II certified technicians following written procedures in accordance with applicable standards such as ASTM E1417 or NAS 410. Ensure adequate ventilation in the inspection area before applying penetrant. Follow your facility's written procedure for dwell time, rinse method, and developer application sequence. Dispose of waste penetrant and rinse water in compliance with local environmental regulations.
