The MAGAFOR 88860001170 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in tight-tolerance applications. Built to Series 8600 specifications, it features a 0.0461-inch diameter with a reamer diameter tolerance of 0.0002 inches, making it suitable for work where bore accuracy is critical. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard collet chucks or drill chucks. With a bright, uncoated finish and four spiral flutes in a left-hand spiral configuration, it delivers clean, consistent cutting on the right-hand rotation pass. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this reamer when final hole size and surface finish cannot be left to drilling alone.
This reamer is suited for small-diameter precision reaming operations in metalworking environments including job shops, tool rooms, and production machining cells. The 0.0461-inch diameter places it in the micro-reamer range, appropriate for components requiring bores in the 1.17-millimeter class. Typical applications include instrument components, hydraulic valve bodies, medical device fixtures, and other parts where bore geometry must meet close tolerances. The four-flute spiral design promotes chip evacuation and reduces chatter in short-flute, small-diameter cuts.
Designed as an OEM-style precision reamer for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills equipped with toolholders accepting a straight-cylindrical shank in the micro-diameter range.
Installation and use of precision reamers should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with cutting tool setup and machine tool operation. Ensure the spindle and toolholder are clean and free of chips or runout before seating the shank. Use appropriate speeds and feeds for carbide tooling in the material being reamed - carbide micro-reamers are brittle and susceptible to breakage from side loading or impact. Always pre-drill or bore the hole to within the recommended stock allowance before reaming to finished size.
