The MAGAFOR 88860000740 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in tight-tolerance applications. Built to Series 8600 standards, it features a 0.0291-inch diameter with a reamer diameter tolerance of 0.0002 inches, making it suitable for applications that demand consistent, repeatable bore sizing. The straight-cylindrical shank allows direct mounting in standard chucks or collets. With four spiral flutes and a right-hand cutting direction paired with left-hand spiral geometry, this reamer produces a smooth finish while pulling chips away from the cutting edge. It is typically installed by machinists, tool-and-die makers, and precision manufacturing technicians working with small-diameter through-holes.
This reamer is suited for use on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual lathes where fine bore tolerances are required on small-diameter holes. The 0.0291-inch diameter corresponds to a No. 69 wire gauge drill size, placing it in the micro-reaming range. Applications include precision instrument components, medical device parts, electronics hardware, and other small-bore work where a drilled hole requires final sizing to close tolerance. The bright, uncoated finish means no added coating thickness to affect diameter consistency.
Designed as an OEM-style precision reamer for use in standard chucking setups; compatible with any chuck or collet system accepting a straight-cylindrical shank at the applicable shank diameter.
This tool should be installed by qualified machinists familiar with micro-diameter cutting tools. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the spindle is at the correct speed and feed rate for the material and diameter before engaging the reamer. Do not use this reamer to remove excessive stock; pre-drill or bore the hole to within the recommended allowance before reaming. Inspect the tool for chipping or wear before each use, as solid carbide micro-reamers are brittle and sensitive to side loading.
