The MAGAFOR 88809004760 is a solid carbide spotting drill designed to create accurate starter holes and locate drill points before full-depth drilling operations. Built to Series 8090 standards, it features a 90-degree point angle and a bright uncoated finish, making it a straightforward general-purpose tool for machine shops and production environments. The cutting diameter is 0.1875 inches (3/16 inches) with a 2-inch overall length. The K15 carbide grade delivers the hardness and wear resistance required for consistent performance in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. This tool is installed and used by machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC operators.
This spotting drill is suited for general-purpose spotting applications in both manual and CNC machining setups. It is used to create a precise conical seat that guides twist drills, reducing walkout and improving hole position accuracy. The 90-degree included point angle is a common standard that aligns well with most drill point geometries used in production work. Its compact 2-inch overall length and 1/4-inch straight-cylindrical shank make it compatible with standard drill chucks and collet holders found on mills, drill presses, and machining centers.
Designed as a general-purpose spotting drill for use in standard drill chucks, ER collet holders, and hydraulic toolholders accepting a 0.2500-inch straight shank, on CNC machining centers, knee mills, and drill presses.
A qualified machinist or CNC operator should install this tool. Secure the shank fully in a collet or chuck to the recommended grip depth before operation, and verify runout with an indicator before production use. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Do not use this spotting drill as a substitute for a center drill in applications requiring a 60-degree seat for live or dead centers.
