The MAGAFOR 88809000500 is a solid carbide spotting drill designed to create precise center marks and chamfered lead-in points before full drilling operations. Built to a 90-degree drill point angle with a 0.0197-inch (0.50 mm) cutting diameter, this tool is engineered for accuracy in tight-tolerance applications. The single-ended, two-flute spiral design with web thinning reduces cutting forces and improves chip evacuation at the point. At 1.5 inches overall length and a 0.1181-inch straight cylindrical shank, it fits standard toolholders used in CNC machining centers and manual drill presses. The K15 carbide grade provides wear resistance suitable for general-purpose spotting across a range of workpiece materials.
This spotting drill is used in metalworking and precision machining environments where hole location accuracy is critical before reaming, tapping, or deep-hole drilling. The bright uncoated finish makes it well suited for use in non-ferrous metals, plastics, and other materials where coated tooling is not required. It is sized for micro and miniature drilling applications given its 0.50 mm cutting diameter, and is commonly found in prototype shops, production lines, and toolrooms running small-diameter hole programs.
Designed as an OEM-style general-purpose spotting drill for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills equipped with toolholders accepting a 0.1181-inch straight cylindrical shank.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with small-diameter carbide tooling. Ensure the spindle and toolholder are clean and concentric before seating the shank, as runout at this diameter can cause immediate tool breakage. Carbide tooling is brittle and should never be subjected to side loading or interrupted cuts beyond the tool design. Follow machine manufacturer feed and speed guidelines for the workpiece material when using sub-millimeter diameter drills.
