The MAGAFOR 80099512700 is a cobalt M-35 (HSS-E) spotting drill designed to create accurate center spots and guide holes for follow-on twist drills. The 90-degree point angle produces a clean, precise cone seat that aligns subsequent drilling operations and reduces walkout on flat, angled, or curved workpiece surfaces. A TiAlN coating increases surface hardness and heat resistance, extending tool life in ferrous and stainless steel applications. At 4 inches overall length with a 0.500-inch cutting diameter, this single-ended drill fits standard 1/2-inch straight-shank toolholders. Machinists, tool-and-die workers, and CNC operators use this drill in both manual and automated setups where hole-location accuracy is critical.
The 80099512700 is suited to general-purpose spotting and centering work in production and job-shop environments. The cobalt M-35 substrate handles harder alloy steels and stainless grades that push past the limits of standard HSS tooling. The 1.375-inch spiral flute length with a web-thinned geometry reduces thrust and improves chip clearance during spotting operations. Two right-hand spiral flutes and a straight-cylindrical shank make the drill compatible with standard collet chucks, drill chucks, and ER toolholding systems found on CNC machining centers, knee mills, and drill presses.
Designed as a general-purpose spotting drill for use in standard 1/2-inch straight-shank collet chucks, ER collet systems, and keyed or keyless drill chucks on CNC machining centers, manual mills, and drill presses. Part of MAGAFOR Series 0995.
Installation and use of this tooling should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators familiar with proper toolholder torque procedures and machine guarding requirements. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing or inspecting tooling. Verify shank seating and runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production run. Refer to the machine tool manufacturer and applicable shop safety standards for speeds, feeds, and coolant recommendations appropriate to the workpiece material.
