The MAGAFOR 80089606350 is a single-ended spotting drill designed to create precise, accurate center marks before drilling operations in metal fabrication, machining, and general industrial applications. Built from Cobalt M-35 (HSS-E) tool steel and coated with Titanium Nitride (TiN), this spotting drill delivers improved wear resistance and extended tool life compared to standard high-speed steel options. It features a 120-degree drill point angle, a 0.25-inch cutting diameter, and an overall length of 2.625 inches, making it well-suited for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mill setups. The 2-flute spiral flute geometry and web-thinned design help reduce thrust and improve chip evacuation during the spotting operation.
This spotting drill is used in general-purpose metal cutting applications where precise hole location is required before a twist drill, reamer, or boring operation follows. The 0.25-inch straight cylindrical shank allows direct mounting in standard collet chucks, drill chucks, or ER collet holders. It is appropriate for use in job shops, production machining environments, and maintenance repair operations working with steel, aluminum, cast iron, and similar materials. Machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary installers and operators of this tool.
Designed as a general-purpose spotting drill for use in standard collet chucks, ER collet systems, and drill chucks accepting a 0.25-inch straight cylindrical shank. Part of MAGAFOR Series 0896.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel familiar with cutting tool setup and machine operation. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing or inspecting tooling. Secure the shank fully within the collet or chuck to the recommended gripping depth before tightening. Verify correct spindle speed and feed rate for the workpiece material before beginning the spotting operation.
