The MACOMB GROUP APPROVED 838-073 is a Schedule 80 PVC flush bushing used to reduce a 1/2-inch socket or fitting down to a 3/8-inch female NPT thread. Molded from Type 1, Grade I PVC conforming to ASTM D1784 and ASTM D2467 cell class 12454, this bushing delivers the pressure ratings and chemical resistance expected of SCH 80 fittings. The spigot-by-FNPT connection style allows it to seat directly into a hub fitting on one end while accepting a male-threaded component on the other. It is installed by plumbers and pipefitters working on cold- and ambient-temperature fluid systems where PVC is the specified material.
This bushing is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, irrigation, chemical distribution, and industrial process piping where Schedule 80 PVC fittings are required. The gray color and molded construction are standard for SCH 80 PVC pressure fittings. At a temperature rating of 140 degrees F, it is appropriate for cold water and many non-elevated-temperature fluid lines. NSF and LPCB certification supports use in potable water and fire-suppression-adjacent applications where listed fittings are required by code.
Designed as an OEM-style SCH 80 PVC fitting for use in Schedule 80 PVC piping systems requiring a 1/2-inch spigot to 3/8-inch female NPT reduction.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters following applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements. Depressurize and drain the system completely before cutting into an existing line or removing fittings. The spigot end is solvent-welded into a Schedule 80 hub using PVC primer and SCH 80-rated solvent cement - do not use SCH 40 cement on SCH 80 fittings. Allow full cure time per the cement manufacturer before returning the system to service.
