The MACOMB GROUP APPROVED 829-248 is a Schedule 80 PVC reducing coupling designed for pressure piping systems where a transition from a larger pipe to a smaller pipe is required in the same run. Manufactured under the Chemtrol Model 4501-R series, this fitting connects 2-inch pipe to 3/4-inch pipe using slip/socket weld joints on both ends. Built from Type 1, Grade I PVC cell class 12454 per ASTM D1784 and ASTM D2467, it delivers the wall thickness and pressure rating expected of Schedule 80 components. The gray molded body is rated to 140 degrees F and meets NSF/ANSI Standard 14 and 61 Annex G for potable water and chemical handling applications. Licensed plumbers and industrial pipefitters are the primary installers.
This reducing coupling is suited for residential and commercial plumbing systems, industrial process piping, chemical distribution lines, and pool or irrigation infrastructure where PVC Schedule 80 fittings are specified. The slip/socket weld connection is compatible with standard Schedule 80 pipe ends and is joined using solvent cement per manufacturer and code requirements. Where NSF/ANSI 61 Annex G compliance is required for potable water contact, this fitting meets that certification without additional approval steps.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-install fitting for Schedule 80 PVC piping systems requiring a 2-inch to 3/4-inch reduction with slip/socket weld connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and local amendments. Shut off and depressurize the line completely before cutting into any existing piping. Use an approved PVC solvent cement rated for Schedule 80 fittings and follow cure time requirements before returning the line to service. Do not apply heat to make up the joint - solvent weld is the only approved joining method for this fitting type.
