The M.A. FORD 79150001 is a 6-flute, high-speed steel countersink designed for precise chamfering, countersinking, and deburring operations in metalworking and fabrication applications. It features a 60-degree included angle (30-degree centerline angle) and a 1-1/2 inch head diameter on a 3/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank. The overall length is 2-1/4 inches. The bright, uncoated finish is standard for general-purpose HSS tooling. This countersink does not include a pilot and is configured as a single-end tool, making it straightforward to set up in a drill press, milling machine, or handheld drill motor.
This countersink is suited for production and maintenance machining environments where consistent chamfer geometry is required across a wide range of materials. The 6-flute configuration promotes smoother cutting action and reduced chatter compared to fewer-flute designs, making it a practical choice for manual and CNC drilling operations in shops handling mixed-material workloads. It is typically installed by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and metalworking tradespeople.
Designed as a general-purpose countersink compatible with drill presses, milling machines, and CNC machining centers accepting a 3/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Rated for use in alloy steel, aluminum, brass, cast iron, high-nickel steel, high-tensile steel, magnesium, magnesium alloy, mild steel, Monel, plastic, and stainless steel.
This tool is installed by machinists and metalworking technicians. Secure the shank firmly in a drill chuck or collet before operation and verify runout is within acceptable tolerance for the application. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material, particularly when countersinking stainless steel, cast iron, or high-nickel alloys.
