The M.A. FORD 79100001 is a single-end, 6-flute countersink designed for chamfering, countersinking, and deburring operations across a wide range of materials. Manufactured from high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, it features a 60-degree included angle and a 0.25-inch nose diameter. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.5 inches in diameter, and the tool runs 2.75 inches overall in length. Right-hand cutting geometry makes it compatible with standard drill press and CNC spindle setups. No pilot is included, and this tool functions as a countersink head only. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals specify this type when clean, chatter-free chamfers are required on production or repair work.
This countersink is suited for use in machine shops, manufacturing facilities, and maintenance environments where consistent chamfer angles are required. The 60-degree geometry is commonly specified for fastener seating and edge preparation on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. The 6-flute configuration reduces chatter and produces a smoother finish compared to single- or triple-flute designs. It is appropriate for both manual drill press use and power-fed CNC applications where a straight-shank tool is acceptable.
Compatible material applications include alloy steel, aluminum, brass, cast iron, high-nickel steel, high-tensile steel, magnesium, magnesium alloy, mild steel, Monel, plastic, and stainless steel. Designed for use in any drill press, milling machine, or CNC machining center that accepts a 0.5-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation is performed by machinists or tooling technicians. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a drill chuck or ER collet before operation. Ensure the spindle speed is appropriate for the workpiece material and tool diameter before engaging the cut. Inspect cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use, and replace the tool if edge condition is compromised.
