The M.A. FORD. 79062506 is a single-end, 6-flute countersink machined from high-speed steel for right-hand cutting. It carries a 120-degree included angle (60-degree centerline angle) and mounts on a 0.375-inch straight-cylindrical shank. The bright, uncoated finish suits general-purpose shop use where coating is not required. Overall length is 2.25 inches, the head diameter is 0.625 inches, and the tip nose diameter measures 0.18 inches. Machinists and toolroom technicians install this countersink in standard drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power tools to produce clean, consistent countersink profiles.
This countersink is suited for chamfering, countersinking, and deburring operations across a broad range of materials in both light manufacturing and production environments. It handles alloy steel, mild steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-tensile steel, high-nickel steel, Monel, aluminum, brass, magnesium, magnesium alloy, and plastic. The 6-flute geometry distributes cutting load evenly, reducing chatter and producing a smoother finish compared to fewer-flute designs. Typical applications include fastener seat preparation and edge break work on fabricated metal and plastic components.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement-style countersink for any drill press, CNC machining center, or hand-held power tool accepting a 0.375-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Compatible with the material types listed in the Key Features section above.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Secure the shank fully in a collet or drill chuck before operating, and confirm the spindle is fully stopped before tool changes. Select appropriate feed and speed rates for the workpiece material - high-tensile and stainless steels require slower speeds and adequate cutting fluid. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use; damaged flutes reduce finish quality and can cause workpiece damage.
