The M.A. FORD. 79031206 is a single-end, straight-shank countersink designed for chamfering, countersinking, and deburring operations in metalworking and fabrication applications. Built from high-speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, it features a 120-degree included angle and six flutes for smooth, chatter-resistant cutting. The shank measures 0.25 inches in diameter with an overall length of 2 inches. The head diameter is 0.3125 inches and the tip diameter is 0.080 inches. This tool is installed by machinists, tool and die technicians, and skilled tradespeople working with drill presses, lathes, or hand-held power tools.
This countersink is suited for right-hand cutting operations across a wide range of materials. It performs well in general metalworking shops, maintenance facilities, and production environments where consistent chamfer geometry is required. Compatible materials include alloy steel, aluminum, brass, cast iron, mild steel, stainless steel, high-tensile steel, high-nickel steel, Monel, magnesium, magnesium alloy, and plastic. It does not include a pilot and is not a head-only style, making it a complete, ready-to-use tool for standard countersinking tasks.
Designed for use with standard drill presses, CNC machining centers, lathes, and hand-held rotary tools accepting a 0.25-inch straight shank. Compatible material applications include alloy steel, aluminum, brass, cast iron, high-nickel steel, high-tensile steel, magnesium, magnesium alloy, mild steel, Monel, plastic, and stainless steel.
This tool is installed by machinists and fabrication tradespeople using a drill press, milling machine, or hand-held drill with an appropriate chuck or collet. Power down and de-energize the machine completely before securing or changing tooling. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when working with harder ferrous materials to extend tool life. Follow applicable shop safety standards and machine manufacturer guidelines for spindle speed selection based on material and tool diameter.
