The M.A. FORD. 61062501 is a single-flute, high-speed steel countersink designed for chamfering, countersinking, and deburring operations in a wide range of materials. It features a 60-degree included angle (30-degree centerline angle) and a bright, uncoated finish. The 1/4-inch straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and quick-change holders. At 2.25 inches overall length, this tool is compact enough for tight setups while handling the full range of typical countersink work. Machinists, toolroom operators, and maintenance technicians use this type of single-flute countersink where chatter control and a clean finish are priorities.
This countersink is suited for use in manual drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power tools where a 1/4-inch shank is required. The 60-degree geometry is common in aerospace-style fastener prep and general metalworking. It is intended for use without a pilot. Compatible material applications include alloy steel, aluminum, brass, cast iron, high-nickel steel, high-tensile steel, magnesium, magnesium alloy, mild steel, Monel, plastic, and stainless steel. The 5/8-inch head diameter and 0.060-inch tip diameter make it appropriate for small-to-mid-range hole prep tasks.
Compatible with alloy steel, aluminum, brass, cast iron, high-nickel steel, high-tensile steel, magnesium, magnesium alloy, mild steel, Monel, plastic, and stainless steel workpieces. Suitable for use in any machine tool or hand-held driver accepting a 1/4-inch straight shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician familiar with rotary cutting tools. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet and verify runout before operation. Always power down or de-energize the machine before changing tooling. Follow standard shop safety practices including eye protection and secure workpiece fixturing.
