The M.A. FORD 61050004 is a single-flute, high-speed steel countersink designed for chamfering, countersinking, and deburring operations in a wide range of materials. It features a 100-degree included angle and a 0.5-inch head diameter, making it well suited for standard fastener seat preparation. The straight cylindrical shank measures 0.25 inches in diameter and the tool runs to an overall length of 2 inches. A bright, uncoated finish keeps the tool ready to use out of the package without additional prep. Machinists and toolroom technicians reach for this type of single-flute countersink when a clean, chatter-free entry is needed on softer and harder metals alike.
This countersink is used in machine shops, maintenance facilities, and production environments where precise fastener seating or edge preparation is required. Its single-flute geometry reduces chatter on hand-held and machine-spindle applications. The tool accepts a standard 0.25-inch collet or drill chuck and fits bench-top drill presses, milling machines, and hand drills. It is not piloted, so the operator controls centering. Applications span chamfering screw holes, deburring drilled edges, and preparing countersunk fastener seats on flat and curved workpiece surfaces.
Designed as an OEM-style single-flute countersink compatible with drill presses, CNC mills, and hand-held drills accepting a 0.25-inch straight shank. Suitable for use on alloy steel, aluminum, brass, cast iron, high-nickel steel, high-tensile steel, magnesium, magnesium alloy, mild steel, Monel, plastic, and stainless steel workpieces as listed by the manufacturer.
Install the shank securely into a collet or drill chuck rated for the spindle speed being used — confirm the chuck is fully tightened before operation. Secure the workpiece before engaging the tool; countersinking unsecured parts is a recognized safety hazard. For hand-drill use, start at a low speed to establish the countersink location before increasing RPM. Inspect the cutting edge before each use and replace the tool if chipping or dullness is observed.
