The M.A. FORD 40212500 is a solid carbide combo drill countersink designed to drill and countersink in a single pass. Built to Series 402 specifications, it features a 5/16-inch body diameter, a 1/8-inch drill point diameter, and a 60-degree included angle. The bright polished finish reduces friction and chip buildup during operation. At 2-1/8 inches overall length, this long-length tool is suited for applications where reach is needed. Right-hand cut geometry and a plain cutting edge style make it a straightforward, reliable choice for machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in demanding materials.
This combo drill countersink is rated for use in cast iron, hardened steel, special alloys, stainless steel, and carbon steel. Its double end type extends tool life by providing two usable cutting ends. The solid carbide construction handles the hardness and abrasiveness of stainless and hardened steel better than high-speed steel alternatives. Typical applications include screw seat preparation, fastener hole finishing, and precision drilling where countersinking must be done to a consistent angle in a single operation on production or maintenance setups.
Designed for use in machining and metalworking applications involving cast iron, hardened steel, special alloys, stainless steel, and steel workpieces. Fits standard toolholders and collets accepting a 5/16-inch body diameter shank.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling professional. Secure the tool firmly in an appropriate collet or drill chuck rated for the shank diameter before operation. Power down and de-energize the machine spindle completely before inserting or removing the tool. Do not exceed the recommended speeds and feeds for the specific workpiece material, as solid carbide is brittle and susceptible to chipping under excessive lateral load or improper setup.
