The M.A. FORD. 30203101 is a solid carbide micro drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding materials. It carries a No. 68 wire gauge designation with a decimal diameter of 0.0310 inches and features a 130-degree point angle suited for accurate entry in hard and abrasive workpiece materials. The overall length is 1.5 inches with a flute length of 0.4 inches. The bright, uncoated finish is standard for solid carbide tooling where coating is not required. A 1/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank provides secure chuck engagement. This bit is intended for machinists, tool and die makers, and precision fabricators working with small-diameter holes in challenging materials.
The 30203101 is built for drilling cast iron, hardened steel, stainless steel, alloy steel, carbon steel, tool steel, aluminum, non-ferrous metals, and special alloys. It suits small-diameter hole applications in production machining, mold making, toolroom work, and general precision fabrication. The fast spiral flute design promotes chip evacuation in deep, tight-tolerance bores. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional drill press and CNC machining center use.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard production micro drill bit for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and precision hand drill applications requiring a No. 68 wire gauge solid carbide bit with a 1/8-inch shank.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom professionals familiar with small-diameter carbide tooling. Ensure the spindle and chuck are free of runout before seating the shank to prevent bit breakage at this diameter. Use appropriate cutting fluid or dry-cutting conditions as specified for the workpiece material. Carbide micro drills are brittle - avoid side loading, interrupted cuts without proper feed rate control, and excessive drill press or CNC feed rates that can snap the bit.
