The M.A. FORD. 30201972 is a solid carbide micro drill bit engineered for precision drilling in tight-tolerance applications. Measuring 0.0197 inches (0.50 mm) in diameter with a 130-degree point angle, this bit is designed for high-accuracy entry into hard and abrasive workpiece materials. The bright, uncoated finish and fast spiral flute geometry support efficient chip evacuation at the micro scale. With an overall length of 38 mm and a straight-cylindrical shank diameter of 3.17 mm, it fits standard precision drill chucks used by machinists, toolmakers, and precision fabricators. The two-flute, right-hand cutting configuration follows Series 302 geometry and carries ISO 9001:2015 certification.
This micro drill bit is suited for use in CNC machining centers, precision drill presses, and benchtop micro-drilling setups. Primary workpiece materials include cast iron, hardened steel, stainless steel, steel, and non-ferrous metals. Secondary applications cover alloy steel, aluminum, carbon steel, special alloys, and tool steel. The fast spiral flute design makes it well suited for production environments where clean hole entry and dimensional accuracy are critical requirements.
Designed for use with standard straight-cylindrical shank precision drill chucks accepting a 3.17 mm shank. Compatible with cast iron, hardened steel, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, alloy steel, aluminum, carbon steel, special alloys, and tool steel workpieces as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a precision drill chuck before operation to prevent runout at this diameter. At 0.0197 inches, the bit is extremely fragile - avoid lateral loading, aggressive feed rates, or hand pressure during entry. Always verify spindle speed and feed rate settings against the manufacturer recommendations for the target workpiece material before drilling.
