The M.A. FORD 30003120A is a solid carbide micro drill bit designed for precision drilling in tight-tolerance applications. It measures 1/32 inch (0.0312 inch decimal) in diameter with a 118-degree point angle and a 1.5-inch overall length. The bit features a spiral flute with a fast spiral type and a straight-cylindrical shank. An ALtima coating increases surface hardness and wear resistance, extending tool life in demanding materials. This bit is sold individually and is a non-returnable, non-cancelable item per manufacturer policy. Machinists, tool-and-die workers, and precision fabricators are the primary users.
The 30003120A is suited for drilling cast iron, non-ferrous metals, steel, and soft metals in production and job-shop environments. With a 0.5-inch flute length and a maximum drilling depth of 25.50 mm (approximately 1 inch), it handles shallow-to-mid-depth micro holes where dimensional accuracy is critical. The right-hand cutting direction and two-flute spiral geometry support consistent chip evacuation in both manual and CNC drilling setups. It is a Series 300 product manufactured to ISO 9001:2015 quality standards.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual spindles equipped with collets or drill chucks that accept a 1/32-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials include cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel; secondary workpiece material is soft metal.
Install in a properly sized collet or drill chuck and verify runout before operation, as micro-diameter carbide bits are sensitive to lateral loading. Power down the spindle completely before changing tooling. Avoid side loading or peck-drilling beyond the rated maximum depth, as solid carbide at this diameter is brittle and will fracture under bending stress. Follow shop safety protocols and applicable ANSI machining standards when operating at high spindle speeds.
