The M.A. FORD 2XDSR5118A is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. It measures 13.00 mm (0.5118 inches) in diameter with a 142-degree point angle optimized for self-centering entry and reduced thrust in hard materials. The drill carries an ALtima (AlTiN) coating, which increases surface hardness and thermal resistance, extending tool life when cutting ferrous and heat-resistant alloys. With an overall length of 126.00 mm (4.9606 inches) and a 72.00 mm (2.8346-inch) flute length, this is a standard jobber geometry suited for general through-hole and blind-hole work in production environments. Installation is performed by machining professionals and CNC operators.
This drill is intended for machining steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys, covering ISO material groups H, M, and S. It performs in both manual drill press setups and CNC machining centers where rigid toolholding is available. The straight cylindrical shank, measuring 14.00 mm (0.5512 inches) in diameter, seats in standard collet chucks and hydraulic toolholders. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and right-hand spiral flute geometry support effective chip evacuation in moderate-depth drilling cycles up to 58.00 mm (2.284 inches).
Designed for use in drill presses, machining centers, and CNC equipment accepting a 14.00 mm straight shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys (ISO material groups H, M, and S). Part of the M.A. FORD Series 2XDSR high-performance carbide drill line.
This tool is installed and operated by qualified machinists and CNC setup technicians. Before tool changes, ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out per facility safety procedures. Seat the shank fully and evenly in the toolholder and verify runout before beginning a cutting cycle. Do not use in handheld drilling applications; the solid carbide construction requires rigid machine fixturing to prevent breakage.
