The M.A. FORD 2XDSR5000A is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for high-performance cutting in demanding metalworking applications. It features a 142-degree split point, a 1/2 inch diameter, and an ALtima titanium nitride (ALtiN) coating that extends tool life and reduces heat buildup at the cutting edge. The overall length is 4.75 inches, with a 2.83-inch flute length and a straight cylindrical shank. Two regular spiral flutes provide efficient chip evacuation. This drill is intended for professional machinists and tool-room technicians working with production-grade CNC or manual drilling equipment.
The 2XDSR5000A is designed for drilling steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys — workpiece material codes H, M, and S. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and ALtiN coating make it well suited for interrupted cuts and high-feed-rate applications where standard HSS tooling would wear prematurely. Typical install scenarios include aerospace component machining, general metalworking shops, and job-shop environments drilling structural or tool steels. Maximum recommended drilling depth is 2.26 inches. Coolant-through is not supported on this series.
Designed for use in standard 1/2 inch drill chucks, ER collet systems, and compatible CNC machining center toolholders. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys (material codes H, M, S). Part of the M.A. FORD Series 2XDSR family covering the 0.5000 to 0.6500 decimal inch drill bit size range.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with cutting tool handling and machine tool operation. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is de-energized or in a safe lockout state before changing tooling. Verify shank-to-holder runout is within tolerance before drilling to protect the carbide from shock fracture. Solid carbide tooling is brittle and should not be dropped or used to pry material.
