The M.A. FORD 2XDSR4606A is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metal-cutting applications. Built to the Series 2XDSR specification, it carries an ALtima AlTiN (Aluminum Titanium Nitride) coating that extends tool life and supports dry or semi-dry cutting at elevated surface speeds. The drill measures 11.70 mm in diameter (0.4606 inches) with a 142-degree split-point geometry that reduces thrust, improves chip control, and self-centers on entry. Overall length is 120.00 mm (4.7244 inches) with a 66.00 mm (2.5984 inch) flute length and a maximum drilling depth of 53.00 mm. This tool is intended for use by machinists and toolroom professionals working in production or MRO environments.
The 2XDSR4606A is optimized for drilling steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys - material groups ISO H, M, and S. The 142-degree point angle and regular spiral flute geometry are well-suited to work-hardening materials where a sharper entry angle and positive chip evacuation are critical. The straight cylindrical shank (12 mm diameter, 0.4724 inches) fits standard drill chucks and collet toolholders. This bit is commonly used in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills where consistent hole quality and tool life are priorities in ferrous and exotic-alloy stock.
Designed for use in steel (ISO H), stainless steel (ISO M), and high-temperature alloy (ISO S) applications. Fits any drill chuck or collet toolholder accepting a 12 mm straight shank. Part of the M.A. FORD Series 2XDSR high-performance carbide drill line in the 10.00 mm to 12.50 mm diameter range.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered down and motion fully stopped. Ensure the shank is properly seated and clamped to the recommended runout tolerance for the toolholder in use before operation. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures for carbide tooling. Inspect the cutting edges and coating condition before each use - chipped or worn carbide should be replaced rather than reground without OEM guidance.
