The M.A. FORD 2XDSR4331A is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding materials. Ground to an 11.00 mm diameter with a 142-degree split-point geometry and an ALtima aluminum titanium nitride (AlTiN) coating, this drill is built for cutting steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys where standard HSS tooling falls short. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio provides good chip evacuation over a 60.00 mm flute length, and the right-hand spiral flute supports conventional CNC and manual drilling setups. Overall length is 120.00 mm with a 12 mm straight cylindrical shank.
This drill is suited for production and job-shop environments where hard or abrasive workpiece materials demand a carbide substrate and a high-hardness coating. Typical applications include drilling into carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, and nickel-based or cobalt-based high-temperature alloys. It is commonly used in aerospace, oil and gas, and general precision machining operations. The straight shank fits standard drill chucks and collet holders on CNC machining centers, knee mills, and drill presses. This is a non-coolant-through design, making it appropriate for external flood coolant or dry cutting with appropriate feeds and speeds.
Designed for use in steel (material code H), stainless steel (material code M), and high-temperature alloys (material code S) as defined by ISO workpiece material classifications. Fits standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 12 mm straight cylindrical shank. Part of the M.A. FORD Series 2XDSR high-performance carbide jobber drill line.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine in a full stop, locked-out condition. Inspect the collet or chuck for runout before seating the shank, as excessive runout accelerates carbide wear and can cause premature breakage. This drill does not include internal coolant delivery, so external flood coolant or air blast should be directed at the cutting zone when drilling stainless steel or high-temperature alloys. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling supplier feed-and-speed recommendations for the specific workpiece material and machine spindle.
